
If you want to operate your computer faster, you need to be familiar with the many Windows shortcuts.
Minimize that time consuming mouse clicking and free more time for blogging.
We have collected our favorite Windows shortcuts. Some of them are pretty basic, but maybe you will find some new or some forgotten.
The "Windows" key
The "Windows" can save you some time using the handy shortcuts it holds.
Hold down the "windows" key and press
- M - Minimizes all windows
- SHIFT - M - Undo minimize all windows
- E - Opens Explorer
- D - Switches between minimizing all open programs and showing them all.
- F - Opens the Find Window
- R - Opens the Run Window
- BREAK / PAUSE- Opens System properties
General Shortcuts
- ALT- F4 - Quit a program
- ALT-TAB - hold down ALT and tab to cycle through open windows.
- SHIFT - TAB - tab backwards through a form
- CTRL - C - Copy
- CTRL - X - Cut
- CTRL - V - Paste
- F1 - Help menu
- CTRL - Z - Undo
- If an item is selectedF2 - To rename a file
- CTRL while dragging a file - Copies the file
- CTRL - SHIFT while dragging a file - Creates a shortcut to the file
- SHIFT - DELETE - Deletes an item without sending it to the recycle bin.
- ALT-ENTER - Display a file's properties.
In "My Computer"
- BACKSPACE - View the folder one level up
- ALT- RIGHT ARROW - Move forward to a previous view
- ALT- LEFT ARROW -Move backward to a previous view
